Wingecarribee Shire Council along with most councils in New South Wales will be holding elections in 2024 for the election of councillors. These elections will take place on Saturday, 14 September 2024. Voting is compulsory at all NSW local government elections except for council polls.
Wingecarribee Shire covers an area of approximately 2700 square kilometres, from Bargo in the north to Tallong in the south, and from Wombeyan Caves in the west to Robertson in the east.
The council was established on 1 January 1981 and is undivided, meaning that there are no wards and all councillors are elected to represent the entire council area. The number of councillors elected varies for each council, with Wingecarribee Shire Council served by nine councillors, including a Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The position of Mayor and Deputy Mayor are decided by a vote among the newly elected councillors after the election.
