Sam was raised and schooled in Bowral after his parents moved to the Southern Highlands in the early 1970’s. He moved back to the Highlands with his wife Jackie and two sons in 2011.
Sam is a high school teacher who has taught for ten years at Bowral High, Moss Vale High and is currently at Oxley College. He is immersed in issues relating to education, youth opportunities including employment, traineeships and apprenticeships through TAFE and higher education through university. Sam is compassionate about youth mental health issues and the important role of sport and broader recreational activities including mountain biking and geocaching and the sense of belonging to a team and a club. He is also excited about the multitude of galleries, art trails and open gardens. Sam is committed to maintaining a diverse and inclusive visual and performing arts culture thriving at the heart of this magical place we call home.
Sam unhesitatingly nominated to run for council in 2021 for the election that was cancelled and again now in 2024 because he has a deep passion for preserving the unique character of the Highlands made up of quintessential Australian villages and country towns each with their own micro community and all surrounded by a magnificent scenic landscape. He has engaged fully on the issue of Plasrefine and supporting community groups on the ground advocating to prevent any adverse impact on the community.
